Founder & Project Director, Rx Laughter
Dear Ms. Hilber,
"Cancer is a difficult illness to deal with and this makes
many patients depressed. Doctors can treat cancer patients with
medicine and improve their overall general condition. However, the
nurses and doctors are not always fully equipped to deal with mental
health.
Also, in Thailand, there is a lack of psychologists and psychiatrists
at hospitals. For example, in the southern part of Thailand, there
is only 1 psychiatrist for 4 southern provinces.
Studying humor therapy will help us to explore ways that improve
the mental condition of our patients. This is very beneficial to
the hospital and to our patients, as we can look at ways to help
improve the overall well-being of our patients."
Sincerely,
Dr. Tanadej Sinthusake
Director of the National Cancer Institute, Mahavajiralongkorn Cancer
Center in Thailand.
